Showerloop - the Open Source DIY Water Recycling Shower

A friend sent me an interesting and useful open source project for making your own recycling shower. It re-uses 10 litres of water in a loop with filtering and heat reclaiming.

Authors - Shane Kyi Hla Win, Luke Soe Thura Win, Danial Sufiyan, Gim Song Soh and Shaohui Foong

Abstract - To deliver lightweight sensor payloads to disaster-struck areas bymeans of an aerial deployment, a novel bio-inspired method capitalizing on autorotation to slow down vertical descent rate is proposed. This concept is illustrated using the samara autorotating wing (SAW) platform, which features a unique collaborative mode where multiple individual units are attached mechanically together to form a collective rotor hub for increased controllability. This rotor is designed with a simple de-centralized separation mechanism to detach into singular units during flight upon command, catering to different mission profiles. The dynamic models for singular state and collaborative rotor hub state were developed, and free-flight simulations were conducted in different modes including the separation stage and control performance for both states was analyzed. Experiments were set up for increased motion-capture region and free-flight drop tests and separation flights were carried out to verify the simulations. Finally, using a multi-rotor as an aerial launch platform, control performance for the single-winged state was evaluated in real-world conditions.

Manolo printed the lenses on his SLA 3D printer and polished them with sandpaper  with some chemical treatment.

Brauns CNC is using his CNC mill to cut them out from acrylic plates. He is also using polishing to get better optical properties. The finished lenses can be used as a magnifying glass or camera macro lense.

Ytec3D developed an open sourced powder DIY 3d printer based on inkjet cartridges.

Project description:
Oasis is a powder and inkjet 3D printer (3DP) that uses older inkjet technology to print an object. HP45 inkjet printheads jetting binder are used to bind powder locally. This part can then be cleaned and treated to create an 3D object.
3DP can print in several materials to get several results: 

  • Gypsum: For full color parts if printed with a color. Infiltrated with CA afterwards; 
  • Sand: For sandcasting moulds; 
  • Sugar: For edible prints; 
  • Ceramics: For printing stoneware. Parts need to be fired afterward;
  • Metals: With a lot of post processing; 
Oasis (and my other 3DP printers as well) were developed to add powder and inkjet 3D printing to the list of open source 3D printers.
Oasis is not a finished printer, rather a working prototype. Software and hardware may have quirks. 
  • Build size: Ø84mm x 100mm;
  • Printhead: HP45;
  • Printhead DPI: 600;
  • Printhead swatch size: 300 nozzles, 0.5" (12.7mm)
