How to develop your 3d printer by Diego Porqueras

Here is an interesting talk on how to design and develop your own 3d printer. You must watch it if you are interested in a process since it is very informative.

Talk summary:
Diego Porqueras invented the Bukobot and Bukito 3D printers. Bukobot’s wildly popular Kickstarter campaign raised four times the requested funds, helping Diego open a Southern California hackerspace store, Deezmaker.
But how do you design a 3D printer? Where would you even start? In this talk, Diego discusses the hardware design space of 3D printers, associated software challenges, and the basics of 3D printer operation.

Here is the video of the talk:

Materials for Extreme 3D Printing, Talk by Walter Voit

Here is a great talk at Google about more advanced 3d printing materials and their properties. The talk is delivered by Walter Voit.

Talk description:
Adaptive 3D Technologies makes the toughest - and softest - 3D printed polymers on the market by creating custom materials specifically designed to be 3D printed. Advanced processing techniques eliminate anisotropy and result in durable, high quality parts that can be used directly in practical applications far beyond current stereotypes of 3D printing (prototyping). Walter Voit is the president of Adaptive 3D Technologies and an Assistant Professor in Materials Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at The University of Texas at Dallas.

3d printing Moto 360 Android Wear prototype watch

Google has announced 'Android Wear,' their effort to bring the Android mobile operating system to wearable devices. Android Wear provides an interface to control other devices through a smartwatch, adds support for Google Now's voice commands, and lets wearables integrate with various apps.
Google has made a developer preview available for download immediately.
Google's Motorola division concurrently announced a smartwatch that's powered by Android Wear called the Moto 360. LG announced one as well.

Here is promotional video for Motorola Moto 360, they use lot of 3d printing in prototyping it.

3D Systems and Motorola partner on project Ara modular smartphone

Motorola (owned by Google) and 3D Systems partner up on modular 3d printed Ara smartphone. Idea behind it that you will able to make a custom smartphone with exchangeable and upgradeable modules.
Update: will not be 3d printed, look below for the link!

Here is a video on why it is not going to work:

From 3d Systems page:
As part of this agreement, 3D Systems plans to substantially expand its multi-material printing capabilities including conductive and functional materials. The company also plans to combine additive and subtractive manufacturing methods, and deliver an integrated high-speed production platform. Pending successful completion of the development phase, 3D Systems is expected to manufacture 3D-printed Ara smartphone enclosures and modules as Motorola’s exclusive fulfillment partner.
Motorola and 3D Systems, the inventors of the cell phone and 3D printer, respectively, have previously partnered on the MAKEwithMOTO tour, a series of make-a-thons at the nation’s top engineering and design schools aimed at exploiting the power of open, hackable smartphone hardware and 3D printing to begin seeding an open hardware ecosystem.

Update (11.4.2014.):

Here is video update on project Ara with more images:

Update 2:

Here is even more on project Ara

Update 3:

Here is the first prototype and hands.on with Ara smartphone:

Update 4:

Looks like the Ara will not be 3d printed. It is a setback for the entire 3d printing technology fied:
